Who We Are

Since its founding in 1952, Texas Statewide Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (TSTCI) has navigated

immense industry changes, driven by technological advancements, expanding service areas, and evolving regulations. Our association has continually supported member companies through these transitions.

The COVID-19 crisis highlighted the digital divide is rural Texas, underscoring the need for high-speed internet for education, work, agriculture, and healthcare. Reliable connectivity is vital for our members and their communities.

In 2024, we rebranded as the Texas Rural Broadband Association (TRBA) to reflect our expanded focus on fiber broadband. TRBA is committed to enhancing broadband access in rural areas, working with regulators and legislators to shape telecommunications and broadband policy. By closing the digital divide, we aim to create new opportunities for all Texans.

We are dedicated to keeping Rural Texas connected and supporting economic growth. As an association, we advocate for our members at the state Legislature, the Public Utility Commission (PUC), and nationally with Congress and the Federal Communications Commission

(FCC). We collaborate with these entities to ensure that policies and technologies address the unique needs of rural areas, because Rural Texas Matters.
